Customs
Two of the most important customs in Kythnos are the traditional wedding in Chora and the traditional wedding in Driopida. If any of these two customs take place during your visit on the island, make sure you attend it.
Almost every family in Kythnos has a chapel in its property and organizes a panigiri (local feast) on the name day of the patron saint of the chapel.
On Holy Saturday, the housewives of Driopida and Chora make traditional cheese pies, both sweet and salty. On Monday after Easter, the young men and women of the island take part in a traditional custom called Kounies.
Worth to mention is also the carnival parade on the last Sunday of the Carnival period, where the carnival king is called Lazanis.
